Carbon County Commissioners’ business

Carbon County Commissioners conducted the following business last week, with Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein absent.

• Approved the 2022-2023 grant-in-aid application to the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole for the improvement of adult probation services through the reimbursement of eligible salaries. This year’s application is for $60,635. This is an annual grant.

• Adopted a resolution and certification of county match funds for the 2023 Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase program to be submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The total is $1,002,808. Officials said this is starting the process based on the approval of the referendum in November to increase preservation efforts.

• Ratified the proposal from Person Agency of Lehighton for the appraisal of 45 acres along Lentz Trail, Jim Thorpe, Ed Kanick’s property, at a cost of $500.

• Adopted a resolution honoring Tyler Fosburg, member of Boy Scout Troop 25, Weatherly on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. His Court of Honor will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 26 in the White Haven VFW.

• The sheriff’s office and clerk of courts has been added to the list of departments that offer validated parking to county residents coming in to do business in the county.

• Resignation: Rhonda S. Wenrich of Lehighton, purchasing manager, effective Feb. 17.

• Prison Board appointment: Brenda Paisley of Weatherly, corrections officer, effective Feb. 6.

• Hire as recommended by supervisor: Robert T. Hill of Lehighton, maintenance II, buildings and grounds, effective Feb. 6.
