The Summit Hill Borough Council voted Saturday to annex the Bloomingdale area of Mauch Chunk Township. A committee of Bloomingdale residents presented a notarized petition asking for the annexation.

The petition contained 100 signatures which a spokesman said represented three-quarters of the property owners in that area.

Solicitor Frank Llewellyn said an ordinance will be certified to the Carbon County Court of Quarter Sessions and if no objections are filed to the annexation within 30 days, the court will be asked to approve the action.

The area is more commonly known as White Bear.
