Investigation continues in man’s death

A fire that resulted in the death of a Monroe County man Saturday evening remains under investigation.

At 10:26 p.m. Saturday, Pocono Mountain Regional Police were dispatched to a home in Wilson Court, Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township, for a structure fire with possible entrapment.

In the home, firefighters found a man inside, lying on the floor.

Firefighters removed him from the residence where he was pronounced dead by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is assisting in the investigation, and an autopsy was scheduled for later Monday.

County Coroner Tom Yanac confirmed Monday morning that a 47-year-old man from Tobyhanna died.

Yanac, who didn’t release the man’s name, said it’s unknown if the man died as a result of the fire.
