Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Jan. 5 with 27 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “A New Years Prayer.”

Mary Ann Laughlin was added to the sick list. Reminders to pay 2023 dues and pack a lunch until further notice.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Calvary Lewistown

Rev. Keith McCarthy of Minersville will be the guest speaker at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening service at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18, Wednesday prayer and share at 7 p.m.

Upcoming events:

Jan. 22: Christmas memories program at the 10:25 a.m. worship service; Souper Sunday, bring canned/boxed soup to share with those in need.

Thrift Sale

Blessings, Zion Lutheran’s thrift ministry, is hosting a one-day post-holiday sale, Friday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The sale features gently used winter clothing and school uniforms along with general household items, books and toys. A limited take-out kitchen menu is available. Major credit cards and cash are accepted. (No checks.) Zion Lutheran is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets in Tamaqua.
