Argall appointed to six Senate committees

HARRISBURG - In addition to being named the chair of the Senate Education Committee, state Sen. David G. Argall, R-29, was also appointed by President Pro Tempore Kim Ward, R-39, to serve on six additional Senate committees for the 2023-24 legislative session.

“Ensuring we have an education system in Pennsylvania that prepares our students for tomorrow’s jobs is key to guaranteeing Pennsylvania’s economic success,” Ward said. “I am confident that Sen. Dave Argall will provide strong leadership as Chair of the Senate Education Committee by advancing policies that best serve the individual needs of students and parents.”

He earned a Ph.D. at Penn State in public administration and has served as a part-time instructor for Penn State, Lycoming College, and LCCC for many years, teaching classes in leadership, public policy, and state and local government.

“My goal is to further improve the education of all Pennsylvania students, from preschool to graduate school, in our smallest towns and villages to our largest cities,” Argall said

Argall will serve as the vice chair of the Senate State Government Committee, working with the committee’s chair, Sen. Cris Dush, R-25, to develop and approve legislation regarding elections and ethics in state government.

He will also serve as a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Finance, Rules and Executive Nominations, Transportation, and Urban Affairs and Housing committees.

“My appointment to these key committees will help me pursue some of my top priorities for this legislative session, including finding new and creative ways to fight the spread of blighted buildings in our neighborhoods and fixing our roads and highways,” Argall said. “I look forward to the opportunity to work in a bipartisan manner with my colleagues to improve the lives of every Pennsylvanian.”

First-term state Sen. Nick Miller, a Democrat who represents parts of Lehigh and Northampton counties, was his party’s chair of the Senate Finance Committee. He will also serve on the Appropriations; Community, Economic and Recreational Development (CERD); and Urban Affairs and Housing committees.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure that Pennsylvania’s tax code is fair and balanced for individuals and businesses,” Miller said of the Senate Finance Committee.
