Brodheadsville church relives Three Kings Celebration
Our Lady Queen of Peace in Brodheadsville opened its doors Saturday not only to members but also to families in the surrounding communities to hear the story of the Three Kings Celebration when arriving in Bethlehem to see baby Jesus.
There was a live Nativity scene with a live baby, that didn’t make a peep, while angels tall and small adjusted their halos and waited patiently for the story of the three kings - Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar.
The story was read by Anthony Stevens Arroyo. He kept it simple and short, telling the children the story of angels and how the kings followed the star to Bethlehem to each honor Jesus with a gift.
Stevens Arroyo explained the kings brought the gifts to God’s son because God spoke to the Three Kings telling them what to bring.
“Once the group marches around the room following the bright star, you will all receive a gift from one of the kings,” for following the bright star just like the kings did in Bethlehem, Stevens Arroyo said.
One little boy wanted to know how God could understand all the different languages and Stevens Arroyo explained that God created us so he can understand all of us.
Once the group finished, they were eager to see what surprises the kings had for them. Paper and ribbon were flying every where.
Christina Luna, who heads up the Federation of Latinos For Education About Cultures of Hispanic America, explained how important it is to keep tradition alive for our children. “So they can carry the traditions on to their children,” she said.
