State police at Lehighton detail crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• A Monroe County driver is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash in which he fled the scene. Troopers said Justin A. Valenzuela, 38, of Kresgeville, was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue on Dec. 15 at 2:12 p.m. along Route 209 at Scenic Drive, in Polk Township, Monroe County, when he crashed. Troopers arrived on scene and found the Rogue with disabling damages and Valenzuela not at the scene.

The vehicle was towed. Valenzuela was cited for the crash.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 4:44 p.m. on Dec. 22 along White Street in Bowmanstown, Carbon County. Troopers said Stephen N. Schroy, 38, of Palmerton, was driving a 2019 Ford Explorer when he lost control. The vehicle struck an embankment, then rolled over onto its roof. Schroy sustained a possible injury and was treated at the scene. The vehicle was towed.

Assisting troopers were volunteers from the Bowmanstown Fire Company.

• Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash at 4:33 a.m. on Wednesday along Weir Mountain Road at the intersection with Mountain View Drive, in Polk Township. Troopers said Jeffrey D. Dorshimer, 51, of Effort, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer southbound on Weir Mountain Road and attempted to make a right turn onto Mountain View Drive. The vehicle left the road along the west side and struck a utility pole.

Dorshimer was not injured. He was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 1:44 p.m. on Dec. 22 along Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Ambrosia L. Sprintz, 41, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2018 GMC Yukon westbound while Victor Moncion Jr., 37, of Allentown, was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra eastbound. Sprintz was negotiating a right curve the tail-end of the GMC started to slide. Sprintz tried to correct the steering but the vehicle hit the guide rail along the berm, then struck the Sentra.

Sprintz, his two passengers, a 9-year-old boy and Linda R. Walter, 76, of Kunkletown, and Moncion were all not injured.

Sprintz was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 7:51 p.m. on Dec. 14 along Hideaway Hill Road in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said David J. Frantz Sr., 59, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound when it left the road and struck a tree. After hitting the tree the truck turned 180-degrees and rolled over onto its roof.

Frantz was not found at the scene, troopers said.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 12:05 p.m. on Dec. 22 along Covered Bridge Road in Lower Towamensing Township. Jay Gattani, 44, of Demarest, New Jersey, was driving a 2019 Volvo XC90, northbound and negotiating a left curve. Demarest applied his brakes and his vehicle slid on slush on the road striking the bridge abutment. The vehicle continued through the bridge, jumping the curb on the left side striking a second abutment before coming to rest.

Gattani was not injured. The vehicle was towed.

He was cited for the crash.
