State police at Hazleton report on crashes

State police at Hazleton released details on the following crashes:

Nelson Hernandez, 40, of Weatherly, was cited with failure to drive at a safe speed following a one-vehicle crash at 10:01 p.m. Dec. 24 on Hudson Drive (Route 93) in Packer Township.

Police said he was driving a 2018 Audi northbound when it left the road and struck an embankment on the west side of the road, then went across both lanes and came to rest on the east shoulder. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said Hernandez and one of two passengers, a 14-year-old Weatherly boy, suffered minor injuries but were not transported by emergency personnel to a hospital.

• Linda C. Harten, 74, of Southampton, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 1:46 p.m. Dec. 21 on the Quakake Road in Packer Township.

Police said she was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, for a medical evaluation.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Audi eastbound when it traveled over the westbound lane and into a field on the north side of the road where it struck a large dirt mound and went airborne. Police said the car traveled about 30 feet in the air and landed on a wooden fence that parallels the driveway at 1822 Quakake Road.

Police said the woman appeared to be an altered mental state and did not know how the crash occurred or where she was.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Marling Hernandez Pinales, 21 of Tresckow, was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 5:05 a.m. Dec. 25 on the Jeansville Road in Hazle Township.

Police said she suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

Police said she was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot southbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said the driver was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
