The Schuylkill Township supervisors are considering the return of about 20 acres of wooded property back to Schuylkill County.
At their meeting on Tuesday night, the supervisors voted to ask Joseph Baranko, the township solicitor, to look into the possibility of returning the property. Supervisors Chairman Charles Fayash said they met with a forester from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources who told them that only one acre of the land was suitable for timbering.
Also at the meeting, the supervisors reminded residents that the deadline for buying a Hometown Heroes banner to be placed on a utility pole is Feb. 15. This deadline is set in order to have the banners ready for Memorial Day. Each banner honoring a veteran, alive or deceased, is $225. The deadline can be extended, but the banners won’t be ready in time for Memorial Day.
Supervisors announced that the garbage collection schedule for holidays in 2023 are listed on the township’s website, schuylkilltownship.com.
