A 64-year-old man from New Tripoli is the victim of a theft by deception/extortion incident being investigated by state police at the Fogelsville barracks.

Police said they were summoned at 7:01 p.m. Dec. 18 to a residence on Kings Highway in Lynn Township where the man indicated he sent nude photos to someone he believed was a woman. Once the photos were received, he said, the suspect requested money be sent in the form of Bitcoin or they would release the photos.

Since September, the victim said, he has incurred a loss of $3,500.
