Panther Valley update by River Knob and Kyle Lin
While the majority of Panther Valley enjoys some relaxing holiday time off, our fellow athletes are keeping themselves busy during the Christmas Break. Dec. 27 is a big day for the Panther Valley boys basketball team, as they take on Marian Catholic after a competitive and well deserved 66-51 win over these longtime rivals on Dec. 12.
With tremendous improvement on the girls basketball team, accumulating four wins not even halfway through the season in comparison to their 3-17 record for the 2021-2022 season, they will push to add another win on Dec. 28 at Palisades High School.
The wrestling team is pushing through and is continuing practices throughout the week. There are a lot of new and promising members this year to the wrestling team who will be competing in the Jim Thorpe Christmas Tournament on Dec. 27 and 28. They hope this competition can bring home some wins to support the comeback of the wrestling program.
While the week is a rather quiet one, the students and staff of Panther Valley are taking this time to rest and prepare for good things to come with the New Year.
Lehighton update by Josiah Kimmel and Gabriella Di Dea
Happy holidays from Lehighton Area High School!
Speaking of the Holiday season, the concert band, jazz band, and chorus had their winter concerts, so thank you to all who came to support our music department.
Aevidum is distributing hats, scarves, socks, and gloves to kindergarten students in need at the Lehighton Elementary Center.
The Drama Club held auditions for the spring musical, “Bye, Bye, Birdie” and the cast list will be posted during our break.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is planning a Valentine’s Day Bingo and a Walk-a-thon to benefit their state project, the Make-A-Wish foundation, so look out for details of these events in future editions.
Since everyone is so busy this time of year, there aren’t too many things going on within the district. We will be off to Tuesday Jan. 3.
No matter what you celebrate, we wish you peace, joy, and happiness this season, as well as a
Happy New Year.
Weatherly update by Kelly Michaels and Michael Berger
Winter sports are underway here at Weatherly! Girls and boys basketball as well as cheerleading have kicked off their season with fury. Our boys basketball team will participate in the annual Christmas Tournament at CMVT on Dec. 27 and 28, we wish them the best of luck.
Moving on from our sports teams, Weatherly Interact Club also collected and distributed gifts for the senior care center, Weatherwood.
Another exciting event, Future Business Leaders of America has just completed the regional leadership conference testing to see if they can advance to states.
Our students and staff are ready for winter break, and are wishing you a merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Editor’s note: No columns were received from Palmerton or Jim Thorpe.
