Nesquehoning Borough Council discussed or acted on the following items during its monthly meeting on Wednesday.
• Approved a resolution on Act 57, which provides homeowners who purchased a house after tax bills were sent out and never received the bill to not have to pay the penalties for taxes for the first year if they are incurred.
• There are still vacancies on the borough planning commission. Interested parties should send a letter of interest to the borough.
• Approved the appointment of John Zlock to the civil service commission; as well as Councilwoman Lois Kuba to fill the alternate spot on the commission.
• Council announced it was approved for a $10,000 grant for body cameras for the police.
• A total of 5,922 pounds of electronics were recycled during the last electronics recycling event.
• Appointed Ashley Smith to the recreation commission.
• Approved the 2023 meeting schedule. The meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month except November and December, when they will be held the third week. Workshops will be held the second Wednesday of each month with the exception of June, July, August, November and December.
