DUI charges
State police at Fogelsville released information on driving under the influence cases:
• A 50-year-old Walnutport man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop made by state police at the Fogelsville barracks at 1:11 a.m. Dec. 9.
Police said they stopped a 2019 Landcraft on South 24th Street in Allentown after observing the driver making numerous traffic violations.
During the course of the stop, police observed numerous indicators of alcohol impairment and took the man into custody after conducting field sobriety tests that validated clues of impairment, police said.
State police at the Fogelsville barracks said a 34-year-old Lancaster man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after an incident at 4:24 p.m. Dec. 10.
It happened in the 1600 block of Siegfriedale Road in Weisenberg Township when the man was driving a 2011 Mazda CX7 that crashed into a telephone pole.
• A 59-year-old Allentown man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop made by state police at the Lehighton barracks at 12:44 a.m. Dec. 15 on East Bridge Street in Lehighton.
Police said they stopped the man for a Motor Vehicle Code violation while he was driving a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and suspected he was under the influence of drugs. Police said he was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Joshua Chiorra, 46, of Bethlehem, is facing charges of aggravated assault while driving under the influence, and related offenses, filed against him by state police at the Bethlehem barracks.
Police said the charges relate to an accident they were summoned to investigate at 8:56 Sept. 24 at the intersection of Route 22 and Schoenersville Road in Hanover Township.
Police said Ricky Knecht, 62, and Ann Knecht, 56, both of Danielsville, sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash that involved a 2019 Volkswagen.
