State police at the Fern Ridge barracks charged a 15-year-old boy with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct after an incident with a knife at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 6.
Police said they were summoned to a property along Switzgable Drive in Chestnuthill Township, Brodheadsville, for a report of the boy holding a kitchen knife, chasing his 8-year-old brother and 39-year-old mother around the house. Police said he stabbed a door in the residence multiple times.
Police said the boy had barricaded himself in the basement of the home and made several threats toward law enforcement officials while waving the large kitchen knife.
A state police emergency response team was activated and the boy was taken to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, for a mental evaluation.
