Judge Matika’s ‘bah humbug’ theme is a winner

The halls are decked in the Carbon County offices for the upcoming holiday.

On Thursday, Jean Papay, Carbon County Register of Wills & Clerk of Orphans’ Court, who organized the second annual door decorating contest, announced the winners of this year’s competition.

The top prize for this year went to Judge Joseph Matika’s office, who channeled Ebenezer Scrooge for the theme.

Second place was court administration with a farmhouse caroling theme.

The District Attorney’s office rounded out the top three with a gingerbread cookie jail, complete with Krampus behind bars.

Papay said that the winners will be treated to lunch.

A total of 23 offices participated.

Last year, Papay and her staff came up with the idea of the door contest after a discussion about the tradition being held years ago.

From there, the rest is history.

Photographer Lynn Shupp donated her talents again to photograph all the doors for the competition.
