Mahoning Township residents will have to dole out a little more money on their municipal tax rates next year.
On a 4-0 vote, the township’s board of supervisors on Wednesday granted final adoption of the 2023 budget, which comes with a 1-mill increase. Board Chairman Robert Slaw was absent.
That will raise the millage rate from 6.75 to 7.75 mills.
Supervisors on Wednesday also hired Alex Hawk as a full-time road department worker, effective Jan. 1.
Hawk will receive $20.30 an hour for the first six months, $22.84 after six months, and $25.88 after one year.
Township secretary Natalie Haggerty said the hiring of a new full-time road department worker, coupled with moving a part-time clerk to full-time clerk were contributing factors that resulted in the increase.
