A vehicle stop along Interstate 78 in Lehigh County resulted in a large amount of cash being found along with a firearm and drugs.
State police at Fogelsville said a 2022 Jeep Cherokee was stopped in Upper Saucon Township, on Nov. 14 at 9:30 p.m. for speeding.
At the stop troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the front area where the driver and passenger were seated. A further investigation led to the finding of $20,000 in cash. During the course of the stop numerous additional factors of criminal activity were observed. The two occupants were identified as Rajvir Purewal and Michael Scott, both of Silver Spring, Maryland.
A consent search was conducted and found was a loaded 9mm firearm, about 300 grams of marijuana and bulk packaging material were located inside the vehicle.
Scott was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and firearm not to be carried without a license.
Purewall was charged with the same offenses but not the firearms charge.
