Carbon man gets jail time in drug cases

A Carbon County man was sentenced to a county prison term last week on two drug-related cases.

Kristopher Michael Lyden, 43, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to serve one day less 12 to one day less 24 months in the county prison on two counts of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine and possession of heroin. He was arrested by state police at Lehighton with the cases dating back to 2019.

He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and render 100 hours of community service.

He had applied for the house arrest program but was denied by the court because of his prior criminal record and drug involvement.

He will begin serving the prison term at 9 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2023.
