Elsewhere, the Tamaqua girls basketball team recorded its first victory of the season.
WRESTLING
Sch. Haven-Panther Vy.
In its first home match since 2020, Panther Valley made it a memorable return in front of the home crowd with a 39-35 win over Schuylkill Haven.
The Panthers made the most six forfeits to seal the deal and record their first dual win since a 37-36 victory over Halifax on Dec. 18, 2019. Mergim Bushati earned PV’s lone contested win with a decision at 172 pounds.

Northwestern-Lehighton
Lehighton cruised to a 53-19 non-league win over visiting Northwestern.
The Indians won four contested bouts, but posted three pins and a tech fall while taking advantage of a handful of forfeits to secure the win.
Blake Muffley (127), Evan Wentz (133) and Reese Balk (285) all earned pins for wins for the Indians, while Carter Hontz added the tech fall.
Luke Fugazzotto (160) and Dalton Clymer (172) both posted pins for the Tigers.

Tamaqua-Shenandoah
Tamaqua gained its first victory of the season with a 57-46 victory at Shenandoah Valley.
The Blue Raiders took control of the game in the second quarter, as they outscored the Blue Devils 17-5 in the period.
Tamaqua (1-2) was paced by Laney Werner, who had a game-high 20 points with four three-pointers, Sarah Hope had 15 points, and Lorelei Plasha added 10. Kendle Miller had 12 rebounds and Sam Plasha had 11.
Shenandoah Valley (0-2) was led by Ava Menjivar, who had 17 points.

Lehighton-Blue Mountain
A strong second quarter helped Blue Mountain pull away with a 39-25 win over visiting Lehighton in the Schuylkill League opener for both teams.
Reese Baldwin posted five of her game-high 18 points in the second quarter for the Eagles (2-0, 1-0 SL), who increased their lead to nine points heading into the intermission. Kylie Conway netted four of her 14 points in the second period.
Taylor Bowman paced the Indians (1-2, 0-1) with eight points, while Emma Repsher added six points.

Chase Marks led four Crusaders’ (2-1, 1-0) players in double figures with a game-high 16 points. Colin Boyle, Dainn Vassalo and Zach Rodgers finished with 13, 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Bryce LoPinto paced the Bulldogs (0-3, 0-1) with five points.

Shenandoah Valley came away with a 62-55 non-league victory over Tamaqua.
After the Blue Raiders took a 14-13 lead after the first quarter, the Blue Devils (2-2) took a 26-24 lead into the half and never looked back. Kaleb Maksimik sparked Shenandoah with a team-high 25 points, while Bryan Rivera chipped in with 13 points. Brady Najada added 10 points.
Connor Dillon netted a game-high 29 points for Tamaqua (0-2). Noah Mateyak posted 11 points.
