Tamaqua police charged Gabriel Kries, 48, of Fleetwood, with writing a bad check.

Police said Kries penned a check for $1,918 to the Tamaqua Water Authority on Oct. 25. The check bounced due to insufficient funds.

Police said he was given a chance to make good on the payment but did not.
