The Summit Hill Recreation Commission held its annual Halloween fun event for children in Ludlow Park, Saturday, with a gourd hunt, refreshments, goody bags and prizes.
“Gourds and Ghouls” was attended by about four dozen children, said Mayor Jeffrey Szczecina.
“It looked like the kids were having a good time,” he said.
Kathy Gieniec, chairman of the recreation commission, said everybody who came was offered cider and cupcakes. Children were given a bag with treats in them.
In addition, the children had to look for gourds that were hidden in Ludlow Park. Each child who found a gourd was given a ticket. A prize drawing was then held.
Most youngsters attended wearing Halloween costumes ranging from a fireman to princesses to unique handmade ensembles. Children ranged from under 2 to the teens.
The next event for the recreation commission will be Christmas on the Hill.
