The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M Bethlehem Criminal Investigation Unit has arrested Jacob Elliot Garcia, 23, for the shooting that occurred last Wednesday on Route 22.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. Oct. 26, troopers responded to the area of Route 22 eastbound, in the vicinity of MacArthur Road, Whitehall Township, Lehigh County for the report of a vehicle struck by gunfire.

Upon investigation, it was determined a white Dodge Charger was traveling in the left lane of the highway when an unknown occupant in the right lane of travel shot at the vehicle striking the operator of the Charger.

The driver of the Dodge Charger was transported to the hospital with injuries.

He was charged with criminal attempt - criminal homicide, aggravated assault - attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, discharge of a firearm into occupied structure.

Bail for Garcia was set at $500,000. Garcia’s next scheduled court appearance is set for the preliminary hearing on Nov. 7.
