Northern Lehigh earned the No. 1 seed in Class 1A for the upcoming District 11 playoffs.

The Bulldogs were one of seven teams from the Times News coverage area to earn postseason berths.

The majority of the teams are in Class 3A where Northwestern, Palmerton, Tamaqua, Jim Thorpe and Lehighton all qualified. The other local team to make the field is Pleasant Valley, which is in the 5A field.

All seven area teams will be playing on Friday night.

Northern Lehigh will host Mahanoy Area in a 1A semifinal game.

In 3A, No. 2 seed Northwestern will entertain No. 7 seed Jim Thorpe; No. 4 Palmerton hosts No. 5 Tamaqua; and No. 8 seed Lehighton will travel to North Schuylkill. All of those games will be quarterfinals.

In 5A, Pleasant Valley is the No. 2 seed and will host No. 3 seed Whitehall in a semifinal game.
