On Nov. 8, Carbon County will be voting for our new congressperson. After redistricting, we join Lehigh, Monroe, and Northampton counties in the new 7th district. For years Carbon has been left behind, left out, and forgotten by our congressional representatives. This election, we have an opportunity to elect someone with a proven record of delivering on her promises to the people she represents: Susan Wild.
Regardless of political beliefs, I believe we can all agree that representatives should deliver for their constituents. Susan Wild has done that. She listened to what the community needed and she delivered. I was able to find some information online about the investments that she returned to her existing district:
Rep. Wild supports our first responders. She obtained funding for the Allentown Fire Department Emergency Operations Center so it could build the first Emergency Operations Center in the region. She got funding for Mt. Bethel Fire Department Emergency Shelter.
Rep. Wild supports our families and mental health. She brought funding back to the Lehigh Valley Youth House to provide in-home mental health services to kids and families. She secured an investment to revitalize the Pocono Family YMCA, including to provide child care.
These are just a couple examples of Susan Wild’s work investing in the community. We in Carbon County could stand to benefit from this kind of dedication to her constituents. I don’t agree with Congresswoman Wild on every single policy issue. However, I deeply admire her dedication to putting people first. I’ll be voting for Congresswoman Wild because I strongly believe she’ll deliver for Carbon County.
