Palmerton set to begin leaf collection on Monday

Palmerton Borough plans to begin its annual leaf collections on Monday.

Collection will run through Dec. 2, according to the borough office.

Here’s the weekly schedule:

• Mondays: leaf pickup will take place at Residence Park, areas north of Colombia Avenue and east of Third Street;

• Tuesdays: north sides of Lehigh and Franklin avenues;

• Wednesdays: south sides of Columbia and Lafayette avenues and south sides of 100 to 200 blocks on Princeton, Edgemont and Harvard avenues;

• Thursdays: north sides of Columbia and Lafayette avenues and north sides of 100 to 200 blocks on Princeton, Edgemont and Harvard avenues, and;

• Fridays: Avenues A and B, Delaware Avenue, and south sides of Lehigh and Franklin avenues.

Do not rake leaves into the roadway. Leaves should be placed along the curb so that they do not scatter before they are picked up. Alleys will be picked up with the same street schedule.

It is not necessary to bag leaves, but cars are to be removed so that leaves are accessible for the pickup machine.

If your residence isn’t listed above, call the borough office at 610-826-2505 when you need leaves collected.

Vegetation disposal will be accepted at Third Street garage. Materials must come from a Palmerton Borough property.

Branches, limbs or small trees must be 1/2” to 9” in diameter.

Lawn and hedge clippings (includes grass and leaves) may be placed in the designated area.

The borough does not accept contractor disposal, milled lumber, rock or dirt, any manufactured board or product, vine clippings, stumps, landscape or railroad ties, brick or block, or anything entangled with poison ivy.

Disposal of any prohibited item will be considered dumping and dealt with under Palmerton and Pennsylvania laws. Disposal area is monitored by surveillance cameras.
