Arizona women face drug, gun charges after 1-80 stop
Two Arizona women have been charged with possession of fentanyl and a gun following a traffic stop Tuesday in Kidder Township.
State police at Hazleton stopped a Dodge Charger going 77 mph heading east on Interstate 81. Cassie Clayton, 47, of Glendale, Arizona, was the driver.
The passenger, Michelle Dockins, 38, also of Glendale, told police the vehicle was rented under her name and she didn’t have a physical copy of the registration.
Clayton and Dockins gave consent to search the car.
Dockins gave troopers the combination to a safe box and police said they found methamphetamine and heroin in it. A black Glock was found under the driver’s seat.
When troopers told Dockins they were confiscating her phone, she tried to throw it into the woods. It hit the guide rail, shattering upon impact.
Clayton tried to kick it into the woods.
Dockins resisted arrest but both were placed in custody.
Dockins said there were other controlled substances in the trunk compartment. Two cellphone wrapped packages containing suspected narcotics were found.
Police said the drugs tested positive for fentanyl.
Clayton faces charges of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; intentional possession of controlled substance by person not registered; use/possession of drug paraphernalia; firearms not to be carried without license; tamper with/fabricate physical evidence; resist arrest/other law enforcement; criminal use of communication facility; and exceeding maximum speed limit eastbound by 7 mph.
