An estimated 1,000 people were in attendance when the Panther Valley Coin Club held its second annual show yesterday in the Lansford AMVETS Post Home.
The spectators, coin collectors and coin dealers, coming from New York and New Jersey, viewed coins on exhibit valued at an estimated quarter-million dollars. Police were on hand at the show.
E. Jay Hall of Lansford had one of the most outstanding collections, including an uncirculated 1856 Flying Eagle penny, Indian head pennies and a complete set of uncirculated mercury dimes.
Among the unique collections were ancient Greek and Roman coins owned by Michael Lacko, club auctioneer and librarian.
