State police report on area crashes
• One person sustained suspected minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at 5:14 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Intersection of Interchange and Red Hill roads in Towamensing Township.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said David H. Stanmets, 48, of Bangor, was operating the 2002 Harley Davidson south on Interchange and was suspected of following too closely a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Daniel A. Friedman, 24, of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Police said when Friedman attempted to turn left onto Red Hill Road the cycle struck the driver’s side of the Jetta.
A passenger on the cycle, Tina R. Stanmets, 50, of Bangor, sustained injuries, was treated at the scene by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance and was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, for medical evaluation, police said.
• A 2011 Subaru Outback driven by William M. Searfoss, 54, of Lehighton, was towed from the scene after it struck a deer at 7:20 a.m. Oct. 20 on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said he was northbound when the deer ran into the roadway. After striking the deer, the driver pulled the Subaru safely into the parking lot of the Kids Daycare.
Searfoss was uninjured, police said.
• State police at the Frackville barracks said a vehicle struck a dump truck on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township at 6:41 a.m. Oct. 7.
Police said the dump truck was going northbound by Tyler E. Morgan, 24, of Pine Grove, when an unknown vehicle traveled into its lane and struck the front left end of the vehicle.
Morgan, who was uninjured, pulled the truck onto the east berm while the striking vehicle continued northbound.
• No one was hurt when a tractor-trailer backed into a car on Village Road in West Brunswick Township at 6:43 a.m. Oct. 19.
State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said Albert L. Liddon Jr., 56, of Shenandoah, was driving the 2017 Peterbuilt east and attempted to reverse when it struck a 2018 Chevrolet Trax operated by Renee M. Palina, 54, of Frackville.
Police said the Trax sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
State police at the Pocono barracks reported on crashes on the Northeast Extension.
• A. Taverasrosario, 34, of the Bronx, New York, was cited after a crash at 8:59 p.m. Oct. 16 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Police said he was driving a 2008 Dodge Sprinter northbound when it left the roadway and struck an exit sign on the east side of the road, knocking it off its footer. The mishap occurred in Penn Forest Township.
Taverasrosario was not injured, police said.
• Thomas M. Tagore, 71, of Palmerton, was cited by state police at the King of Prussia barracks for failure to drive at a safe speed after a mishap at 1:48 p.m. Oct. 15 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Police said he was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue northbound in the area of mile marker 54.4 in Lower Macungie Township when it traveled onto the right shoulder of the road and struck a pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Tagore was not hurt.
• Dewan L. Pitts, 57, of Binghamton, New York, was cited at the Pocono barracks for failure to drive at a safe speed following a crash at 12:23 p.m. Oct. 13.
Police said he was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry southbound when it lost traction and spun out, striking a guide rail. The incident occurred in Kidder Township.
Pitts was uninjured.
