Pleasant Valley board approves resignations, hires
The Pleasant Valley School Board announced the resignation of the high school’s librarian at its meeting Thursday night.Sandra Reilly will complete her position as librarian on or before Dec. 16.
The school district is also launching a program called the Learning Recovery Opportunity to help students who may be struggling due to learning loss during the pandemic.
The school board approved hiring staff already in the school district to assist these students. The number of staff needed will depend on the number of students who enroll in the program. The staff includes:
• Hiring of nurses for Learning Recovery Opportunity – All positions pay $58 per hour. PVIS: Kristin Heckman and Dawn Kieffer.
• Hiring of paraprofessional associates for LRO – All positions pay $23 per hour. PVES: Christine Skvasik; PVIS: Drita Beskovic; PVMS: Mariclaire Hosking and Karen Voulo; PVHS: Susan Ferretti and Debra Labar, and;
• Hiring of teachers for LRO – All positions pay $58 per hour. PVES: Kristen Gschwend and Jodi Kresge; PVIS: Catherine Britton and Tracy Pio; PVMS: Lorrie Snyder, Valerie Palmieri, Amy Wilisz and Nicole Composto; PVHS: Jackie Brinker, Danielle Brandes, Kathleen Gray, Suzanne Hunsicker, Joseph Agolino, Talitha Graham and Jamile Ferrara.
The following personnel were approved:
• Change of current assignment – Sarah Brodsky, from LTS special education teacher to special education teacher at PVIS, $46,467; Joseph Russomano, from substitute custodian to custodian at PVIS, $18.29 per hour;
• Hiring of professional staff – Melissa Vaillant, special education teacher, PVHS, $46,467;
• Professional staff building transfer – Ashley Thompson, from PVMS to PVHS;
• Student activities – PVHS Ski and Snowboard Club, Mark Rehrig and Dave Lewis, co-advisers;
• Supplemental contracts: non-athletic – PVHS: Talitha Graham, Science teacher – fall, winter and spring, $1,687.50, and Bernadette Fierro, class adviser – Freshman, $1,500; PVMS: Lisa Wojton, Student Government, $1,300, and Honor Society adviser – Junior, $1,600.
