Construction work will commence this week on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike where two bridges in Franklin Township are scheduled to be replaced.

One bridge carries the turnpike over Rt. 209 and the Pohopoco Creek while the second one passes over Pohopoco Drive. The bridges are north of the Mahoning V alley Interchange.

The work will be done by the New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company of New Enterprise, Pa., under a $22.1-million contract. The structures will be replaced in stages in order to maintain turnpike traffic.
