Carbon Surgical Associates is celebrating its 20th anniversary of serving Carbon County and the surrounding areas, having provided a full range of surgical services ranging from minor procedures to advanced operations in the past two decades.

Since its founding in 1989 by Dr. Mark T. Vandenberg, the firm has served two hospitals of the Blue Mountain Health System, Gnaden Huetten Memorial in Lehighton and the Palmerton Hospital.

In addition to Dr. Vandenberg, primary surgeons with the company include Dr. Michael Martinez, who joined it in 2000, Dr. Scott Croll, upon is completion of surgery training at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in 1995, and Dr. James Kramer, who became a partner in the business in 2005.
