State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at the Lehighton released information on crashes investigated by troopers:

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:16 p.m. on Sept. 22 along Canal Street in Franklin Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Nathan A. Kemmerer, 22, of Lehighton, was driving a 2002 Ford F-350 truck eastbound when he lost control in a left curve. The truck crossed into the westbound lane and onto the berm, where it struck a retaining wall before coming to rest.

Kemmerer fled the scene but was later located at his home and taken into custody. He was transported to St. Luke’s-Carbon Campus for a blood draw. He refused medical treatment. He is facing a driving under the influence charge, pending test results.

• Troopers said at 9:22 p.m. on Sept. 24 Randolph B. Green, 44, of Palmerton, was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 truck westbound on Wintergreen Road in Lower Towamensing Township, when the truck left the road and struck a tree along the berm. Upon impact with the tree the truck became airborne and landed, then slid off the westbound lane.

Green refused medical treatment. He was taken into custody and will be charged with DUI, troopers said.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:26 p.m. on Oct. 4 along Interchange Road in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 17-year-old girl from Kunkletown, driving a 2011 Ford Fiesta, and Susan M. Hand, 70, of Jim Thorpe, driving a 2014 Subaru Forester, were both westbound when the teen’s vehicle struck the rear of Hand’s vehicle as the two vehicles approached the intersection with Burger Hollow Road.

No one was injured. The Ford was towed.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 10:49 p.m. on Oct. 5 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Richard R. Diehl, 51, of Lehighton, was driving a 2020 Subaru Impreza northbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. His vehicle struck the deer.

Diehl had minor injuries and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital-Carbon Campus. The vehicle had to be towed.

• Police reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 10:06 p.m. on Sept. 28 along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Nathan E. Orji, 24, of Windsor, Berks County, was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza northbound and attempted to over-correct his vehicle in a curve. He lost control of the Impreza which hit a ditch along the right shoulder.

Orji was not injured. The car was towed.

• A one-vehicle crash happened at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 along Weir Lake Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Lydia R. Werner, 24, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2015 Subaru Impreza northbound when a deer entered the road. Her vehicle struck the deer with the left front. The vehicle continued for 30 more feet before coming to rest.

Werner was not injured. The vehicle was towed.
