Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Sept. 29 with 22 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “The Autumn of Life.”
The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.
Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Upcoming events: Tuesday, Fundraising committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial hall; Preschool committee meeting at 7:30 p.m.; Oct. 15-turkey and waffle dinner, 3-6 p.m., takeout only.
Rummage Sale
A Rummage Sale will be held Oct. 11 and 12, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Oct. 13, Bag Day, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Lunch and supper will be served at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pine and Mauch Chunk Street, Tamaqua. Takeouts available.

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the West Penn Township Annex.
A Veterans Day breakfast will be held on Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at The Mason Jar. All paid up members and one guest are invited.

The Rev. Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. The 6:30 p.m. service will feature photos and stories of the Grand Canyon trip taken by Carol Stein.

Soup Sale
The Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network will be taking orders for its Community Soup Sale at a table at the Tamaqua Heritage Festival, Sunday. The sale is part of the 2022 Tamaqua Area Hunger campaign.
Eight homemade soups can be ordered and then picked up Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at Trinity United Church of Christ in Tamaqua.
Soups can also be purchased online at https://tamaquahunger.tacp.info/solutions.
Individuals and organization can also pick up registration forms for the Oct. 30 Hunger Walk which culminates the monthlong Tamaqua Hunger Campaign.
Raffle tickets for gift certificates to area restaurants are also available at the festival.
The Tamaqua Hunger Campaign benefits Tamaqua’s two hunger pantries (American Primitive Methodist Church and Trinity United Church of Christ) and the People’s Pantry emergency food kiosk at Zion Lutheran Church.
TAFFN is an organization of lay leaders from Tamaqua area congregations which promote understanding and cooperation among the community’s churches. It operates under the umbrellas of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
