The body of a woman was found hanging behind District Magistrate Casimir T. Kosciolek’s office on Ridge Street in Lansford shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

Officers were called to the scene and found the deceased woman just out of sight of the parking lot in a wooded area, according to Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller.

Miller wasn’t sure of her age or identity at this point.

The incident is being investigated by the Lansford police department, the District Attorney’s Office, the County Detectives and the coroner.

Lansford Fire Department and Lansford fire police assisted at the scene.
