Plenty of bright spots for Palmerton festival despite rain
After two days of gorgeous weather, Sunday’s rain dampened what could have been a perfect trifecta.
Still, organizers of this past weekend’s 33rd annual Palmerton Community Festival took the approach that two out of three ain’t bad.
Susie Arner, event president/co-chair, said she would rate this year’s festival as a success because of the overwhelming turnout in each of its first two days.
“It was a terrific first two days, with amazing support from the Palmerton community and surrounding areas,” Arner said. “The festival committee wants to thank everyone on behalf of all the vendors for all their support of the event.”
Despite the rain, Arner said patrons who attended the final day of the event weren’t about to let the raindrops ruin their fun.
“It was sad for Sunday that we did have poor weather, but everyone made the best of it,” she said. “We saw people in the park gathering food and meeting with friends and with smiles on their faces.”
Overall, Arner said the volunteers who put in their time and efforts to make the event succeed were generally pleased with the outcome.
“The festival continues to be successful in all areas, and each time we are surprised ourselves at the attendance, the support and continued dedication of especially all the volunteers who help put it together,” she said.
“All the vendors were very pleased with the amount of sales they had, and thus they are happy to be able to say ‘thank you’ to everyone, and they will be returning to continue raising funds for their causes to support the community and the surrounding areas.”
Arner said the festival will continue to make improvements.
“The festival committee is always looking for input from the community, and we just ask that everyone realize changes will occur from time to time, but please be respectful in your feedback,” she said.
The event wrapped up its three-day run with entertainment from the Brian Dean Moore Band, Nowhere Slow, Tootsee the Clown & Friends (Sponsored by Lehigh Valley Health Network), and Triple Rail Turn.
Arner said plans are already in the works for next year’s event.
“In looking ahead toward festival 2023, everyone should save the date of the weekend after Labor Day, because we will be back as strong as ever,” she said. “But (next year), let’s hope for three sunny days.”
