A 9/11 Memorial Service will be held Sunday beginning at 6 p.m. from the South Ward Playground in Tamaqua.

Micah Gursky, executive director of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

The event will begin with the singing of the National Anthem. Other presentations will be provided by Skyy Boyer of the Dance Factory, Tamaqua, and local musician and radio personality Jack Kulp.

The playground recently hosted a Family Fun Back to School event, and handed out 150 backpacks filled with school essentials and school uniforms. Five bicycles and hundreds of gifts were among the prizes awarded for games.

A number of community groups, churches and other organizations participated.
