The Lehighton United Veterans Organization will hold a Sept. 11 memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Upper Park Amphitheater in Lehighton.
Lehighton UVO Commander Kevin “Spike” Long said the ceremony is open to anyone who wants to share a time of remembrance and reflection.
“It’s to remember and never forget that day and honor all military and first responders,” Long said. “It’s to always remember the day and pay homage.”
Long noted that the Lehighton UVO does a service each year “to never forget what happened on that fateful day.”
“The back door was left open that day, and the bad guys got in and that just changed our nation and our world, and we’ll never forget that,” he said. “We’ll never forget the day and what happened.”
But Long said, “It’s always a learning experience; we learn to try to get better from our history.”
