Annual TN Bingo contest starts Saturday

The thrill one gets as they mark off the numbers on the cards one at a time.

The suspense that builds each day as the cards get closer to being filled.

The anticipation that comes with being named a finalist for a shot at the grand prize.

Those who participate in the fifth annual Times News Bingo contest can expect all that and more.

The contest starts on Saturday, with the bingo card inserted into the newspaper, as well as the first bingo number advertisement.

A bingo number ad will be in the Times News every day through Nov. 25

Since this is a coverall bingo game, all numbers on the card must be filled out in order to qualify.

All bingo cards must be received by 4 p.m. Dec. 2.

A total of 50 finalists will be picked on Dec. 5, and invited to the grand prize party at the Lehighton Outdoor Center, which serves as the main sponsor. The winner of the grand prize drawing at the party wins $1,000.

Jen Benninger, advertising director, Times News Media Group, said that “Bingo has become a reader favorite.”

“We have heard of neighbors playing together and helping each other with numbers for their cards,” Benninger said. “The Times News is happy to again be able to run this very popular contest.”

Christine Campbell, circulation director, Times News and Lehigh Valley Press, said this year’s contest is “more exciting than ever.”

“Searching the pages of the newspaper for the number … and the next number … and the next, etc., keep readers coming back for more,” Campbell said. “So, if you are a die-hard Bingo player, or just a beginner, pick up a Times News and play along without having to make a trip to the Bingo hall.”

Campbell said the contest is beloved by many.

“The top prize is $1,000, and is very popular with our readers,” she said. “It’s fun to play, and we are happy to be working with the Lehighton Outdoor Center once again this year as the sponsor.”

The other sponsors of the contest are Barrels of Fun Beverages in Slatington, Mrs. Bush’s Personal Care Homes in Kunkletown, 903 Landscape Supply in Jim Thorpe, Koch’s Lawn & Garden in New Ringgold, and Hager Furniture Company in Palmerton.
