A truck driver has been taken to a hospital after he lost on a curve on Route 93 and crashed. The rig rolled and burst into flames.

The incident, which happened just before 7:30 p.m., on a stretch of the road between the Carbon County prison and the runaway truck ramp.

Local police were on scene and fire companies from all three Nesquehoning fire companies, Mahoning Valley and Jim Thorpe. Lehighton ambulance responded.

The smoke could be seen from about three miles away.

The road remains closed while crews clean up from the crash. The incident is under investigation, police said.
