KIA memorial service

On Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. will be a service to honor and remember the Franklin Township servicemen who were killed in action in all the wars. It will be at the Phifer’s Ice Dam Pavilion where the new monument is located. This program was started in 1988 by former teacher Larry Hill and his students. Since the Franklin Elementary closed in 2018, the services have continued at Phifer’s on the second Saturday of September. There will be more than 40 former students and four former teachers participating in the service as well as the Lehighton UVO. The public is invited to help honor the hometown heroes. It will be held rain or shine.
