ALLENTOWN - One of the nation’s Top 50 fairs, the Allentown Fair is being held now through Monday at the Allentown Fairgrounds, 302 N. 17th St. Fair organizers are touting this year’s 170th anniversary event as “The Great Allentown Fair Lights It Up!” The fair features entertainment, food, agricultural displays and more. ECKLEY - Eckley’s Miners Village and Museum, 2 Eckley Back Road, Weatherly, will be open today through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can view the historic coal mining village along with the interiors of the Catholic church, a miners’ double house and the Episcopal church. HAMBURG - The 19th Annual Taste of Hamburger Festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the downtown. There will be a professional burger eating competition, as well as 40 hamburger stands, four stages of musical entertainment, contests, children’s activities, local art and handmade crafts. LANSFORD - Zoostock 2022, featuring live music, food, beverages and family-fun, will be held Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Half Time Bar & Grill at The Zoo, 390 W. Snyder Ave. Attendees should bring lawn chairs. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
NUREMBERG - The Annual Nuremberg Celebration will be held Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. both days from at the North Union Township Community Park. The event features food, face painting, tricky trays, contests, crafts and dancing. Toolshed Jack will perform from 6 - 10 p.m. Saturday, and the Mountain Grove Outlaws will perform from 6 - 10 p.m. Sunday. Fireworks begin just after 10 p.m. Sunday with a rain date of Monday.
READING - The Berks County Heritage Center will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Guided tours of the Gruber Wagon Works are offered for a fee throughout the weekend. The heritage center is a historic park that encompasses the Gruber Wagon Works, a national historic landmark; along with the C. Howard Hiester Canal Center, Wertz’s Covered Bridge, Melcher’s Grist Mill, Deppen Cemetery, Mildred the houseboat, the Epler’s One Room School House and many historic farm buildings related to the site’s previous use.
