NY teen jailed in Monroe stabbing

A New York city teen has been jailed charged in an attempted homicide incident in Monroe County.

State police at Stroudsburg said at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday troopers responded to 48B Lower Ridge View Circle in Middle Smithfield Township, for a reported stabbing incident.

On scene troopers learned a 69-year-old woman had been stabbed multiple times. The suspect was identified as Seth Bourne, 17. He had left the residence but was detained outside the residence by responding emergency personnel.

The victim was given aid at the scene and then flown by medical helicopter to a trauma center. Troopers said she sustained multiple stab wounds to her chest and shoulder. She is in stable condition.

The Monroe County District Attorney office has approved charging Bourne as an adult. He was charged with two felony 1 counts of aggravated assault to cause serious bodily injury, a felony one count of possession of an instrument of crime and misdemeanor counts of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Snydersville unable to post $500,000 straight cash bail.
