KIA memorial service
On Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. will be a service to honor and remember the Franklin Township servicemen who were killed in action in all the wars. It will be held at the Phifer’s Ice Dam Pavilion where the new monument is now located. This program was first started in 1988 by former teacher Larry Hill and his students. Since the Franklin Elementary closed in 2018, the services have continued at Phifer’s on each second Saturday of September.
We have over 40 former students and four former teachers participating in the service as well as the Lehighton UVO.
The public is invited to help honor our hometown heroes. It’s held rain or shine.
