The public is invited to gather from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Depot Square Park in Tamaqua as part of International Overdose Awareness Day.

Representatives from Safer Streets Tamaqua, New Roots Recovery Center and Hope & Coffee will be on hand.

The event is held around the world to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind.

Attendees are invited to hang a ribbon on a tree in memory of their loved ones and to share memories with friends.

Free hot dogs, water and coffee will be available. The organizations wish to remind everyone that help is available and that lives have been saved.
