Kathleen S. Ward, Tamaqua’s Downtown Manager since January, has announced she is leaving the position effective Sept. 15.

Ward, 29, submitted her resignation to Donald R. Serfass, president of Downtown Tamaqua Inc.

A Coaldale native, Ward cited personal reasons for departing but said she is leaving on amicable terms. The major factor in the move is her upcoming wedding (to Frank Derrick) and relocation to the Bethlehem area.

Serfass said, “We are sorry to see Kathleen go. She accomplished a great deal in the past eight months, such as a comprehensive market study of the Tamaqua area.”
