VFW honors retired Nesquehoning officer
The Nesquehoning VFW recently honored a retired police officer for his service to the community.
Members of the VFW presented Tim Wuttke, who retired from the borough police force earlier this year, with the Patrolman Achievement Award. Wuttke served as a Nesquehoning patrolman for 20 years.
VFW Commander Craig Strohl, who worked with Wuttke while serving as a police officer, said Wuttke was deserving of an achievement award because he was trustworthy and dedicated to the job.
Over the years, Wuttke helped build the borough police force through creating a field training program for new officers. He also used his skills in investigating complex cases that required a high level of attention to detail.
He served as a liaison with the State Highway Safety Programs for vehicle related cases and helped then police Chief Sean Smith with integrating new technology for the department.
Wuttke also served as officer in charge in the chief’s absence and maintained the department.
Strohl said Wuttke’s actions reflect greatly upon his character and wished him the best in his future endeavors.
Wuttke thanked the VFW for the honor.
“After two decades of working in Nesquehoning, it’s nice to receive this recognition,” he said, noting that the VFW is active in the community and supporting emergency services like the police.
Before his time in Nesquehoning, Wuttke served as an officer in Lansford.
