• A Tamaqua man wanted on drug charges was picked up by police after he ran three stop signs on an electric scooter in the borough, police said. Zachary Zimmerman, 30, was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison after police found out he was wanted, police said.
• Michael Schmeltzle, 21, of Kempton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness on Aug. 3, Tamaqua police said. Police said they were called to the Turkey Hill for a suspicious person. Police said it appeared Schmeltzle was under the influence. They said he had three hypodermic needles, cotton balls, alcohol swabs, a cut straw and other items associated with drug use.
Schmeltzle refused treatment from emergency medical personnel.
