Palmerton Area School Board

Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors approved the following items Tuesday:

• The special education plan for the 2021-24 school years.

• The district’s comprehensive plan for the 2022-25 school years.

• The student athletic handbook for the 2022-23 school year.

• The coaches’ handbook for the 2022-23 school year.

• The Hayward Computer Career Accelerator Fund Cyber Security Course Grant from Carbon County Community Foundation in the amount of $7,760 to support the Cyber Security Course starting in January 2023.

• Hiring Jennelle Billingsby as secondary special education teacher at an annual salary of $49,500.

• Hiring Nellianne Parr as secondary librarian/STEM teacher at an annual salary of $60,500.

• Hiring Evelyn Hydock as long-term substitute Spanish teacher at an annual salary of $47,000.

• Hiring Alyssa Miller as building-based substitute teacher at an annual salary of $47,000.

• Hiring Dawn Borger as central office secretary (special education department) at an annual salary of $36,550.

• Hiring Shelly Frantz, Penny Keen, Melissa Snyder, Shirley Suarez and Jamie Summers as food service workers at $13.85 per hour.

• Hiring Karissa Nenscel as a substitute teacher at a daily rate of $110.

• Amanda Cappella to teach five hours a week of homebound instruction at the rate of $33 per hour through the end of the first semester of the 2022-23 school year.

• The resignations of elementary teachers Adrienne Pelo and Rachel Harry.

• Daniel Heaney as school safety and security coordinator.

• The KRE Security LLC, district and athletic security services agreement for the 2022-23 school year.

• George’s Transportation bus drivers and routes for the 2022-23 school year.

• A letter of agreement with the Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug & Alcohol Commission Inc., for the 2022-23 school year at a cost of $14,000.

• A program placement agreement with Lehigh Learning Academy for the 2022-23 school year.

• An intergovernmental agreement for Title I Equitable Services with the CLIU #21 for the 2022-23 school year.

• A letter of understanding and public preschool memorandum of understanding and protection of personally, identifiable information with PathStone, Child & Family Development Services through Aug. 17, 2023.

• First reading of policies on facilities and workplace safety, building security, emergency preparedness and response, and school security personnel.
