Chris Eckert, a former Chestnuthill resident and township supervisor, will once again be performing at the West End Fair.
“I’m actually opening up the fair this year right after Vesper services,” he said
He enjoys coming back home and seeing people he knows, but when asked if he ever gets tired of traveling, he said, “I guess not, I love to perform for people. If there’s an appreciative audience, that actually makes my day,” he said.
Eckert likes and performs all types of music. He said if he had a favorite it would be earlier country music, singers like George Jones, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline.
County music is the most popular today, Eckert said.
He added that most people enjoy almost every type of music if it’s good.
“There’s nothing like having an audience that really appreciates what you’re doing and enjoys the music. When you look out when you’re performing and they’re singing along with you and you can see them tapping their feet. You know there is nothing better, and as long as I can sing and they are not throwing tomatoes at me I will keep on doing what I love best,” he said.
He has performed at concerts, events and club venues and bands for many years. The last several years he has performed as a single act.
