Two people were seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in West Penn Township. The two were treated at the scene before being flown by Medevac and LifeFlight helicopters. The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 309 and 895.

A young woman driving a Jeep pulled out of Route 895 into the path of a southbound Volkswagen. The vehicles collided with the Jeep catching fire. Schuylkill and Carbon counties dispatched six ambulances and paramedic units to the scene as well as the West Penn, New Ringgold and New Tripoli fire companies. Other victims were treated at the scene before being transported to area trauma centers. West Penn Township police are investigating the incident.
